Juvenile ‘IIP’ Diversion Notice

Pursuant to K.S.A. 38-2346, the Shawnee County District Attorney's Office has implemented an Immediate Intervention Program (“IIP”) for juvenile offenders. This program was developed and implemented in collaboration with the Shawnee County District Court, Court Services' Office, and the Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center.

Juveniles charged with criminal offenses may be entitled to participate in IIP, while others may be eligible to apply for acceptance into IIP. IIP operates much like a diversion for an adult offender, in that the juvenile may avoid a conviction/adjudication if they successfully complete all requirements of the program.

To ensure fairness and consistency in administering IIP, the District Attorney has implemented eligibility guidelines set forth in the IIP Program Overview. The District Court has also established an IIP Docket to ensure that juvenile participating in IIP are processed through the Court in an efficient manner. For questions regarding the IIP process, please contact the District Attorney's Office or the Court Services' Office.
