Visitation Rules as of January 21, 2014

On Tuesday, January 21, 2014, Shawnee County Adult Detention Center (SNADC) went live with an integrated video visitation system. The new system allows for on-site visitation (lobby of Corrections Annex, 818 Adams), and remote visitation from any location equipped with high-speed internet, a personal computer, and webcam. Friends and Family Video Visitation Schedule


On-Site Visits (Sunday - Friday) 20 Minute Visits

  • 6:30am - 9:50am
  • 12:10pm – 1:50pm
  • 2:30pm – 5:50pm

Home User Visits (7 days/Week) 20 or 40 Minute Visits

  • 6:30am - 9:50am
  • 12:10pm – 1:50pm
  • 2:30pm – 5:50pm
  • 8:10pm – 9:50pm

General Rules for Video Visitation

  • Remote and on-site visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by the visitor – either from the Securus Video Visitation Website or at the kiosk in the ADC Lobby.
  • The duration of each on-site visit is 20 minutes. Remote visits may be for 20 or 40 minutes.
  • Each inmate is limited to two on-site visits per week.
  • Remote and on-site visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the visitation period.
  • All visits are recorded and subject to monitoring.
  • No NUDITY, provocative clothing, or tight-fitting clothing will be allowed during the visit. Violators will be subject to the visit being cut short (without refund for remote, pre-paid visits), and future visits being barred.
  • During a visit, the visitor is required to remain at the visitation booth or remote PC. If the visitor leaves the visitation booth (or remote PC), the visit is subject to being terminated.
  • Visitors appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted into the video visitation area and their visit will be cancelled.
  • On-site visits are limited to two persons at any public terminal or in the public visitation area.
  • Use of cell phones or other devices while visiting is prohibited, and may result in the visit being terminated.
  • Loud talking, excessive emotionalism, or any type of disruptive behavior will not be permitted in the video visitation area. Visitors are expected to show respect to others who are engaged in a visit in the area.
  • Do not damage or deface the visitation equipment. If you damage or deface the equipment, you could be prosecuted and required to provide restitution to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.
  • If you experience a problem with the audio or video reception during your visit, you are required to notify visitation staff immediately.

Other Information

Visitors must be approved by department staff prior to being authorized to schedule any visit. Approvals of visitors will take place during normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. SNADC reserves the right to deny, cancel, or terminate a video visit prior to or during a video session based upon visitor or inmate misconduct. SNADC also reserves the right to restrict a visitor from participating in all future use of the system.
