The Mission of the Election Office: To honestly, fairly and according to law administer elections for all voters; and to accurately report the results in a timely manner.
Filing deadline is 12:00 Noon on January 27, 2015. Anyone wanting to file for City of Topeka City Council will need to do so in the City Clerk’s office, 215 SE 7th Street, Topeka, KS. Individuals filing for City of the 3rd Class positions may file at their respective City Clerk’s office or in the Shawnee County Election office.
All Drainage District Candidates will need to file in the Shawnee County Elections Office. They should take note of the 2012 Kansas Statute (K.S.A. 24-414) change, which moves their filing date to January 27th. There is a $5.00 filing fee.

The voter registration deadline is now the 21st day before any election.
Beginning January 1, 2012 every voter must show photo identification each time they vote. Beginning January 1, 2013, individuals must provide proof of U.S. citizenship when they register to vote for the first time in Kansas.
