| Re: | Election Commissioner to speak at U.S. Election Assistance Commission Roundtable Discussion in Washington D.C. |
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) has invited Shawnee County Election Commissioner Elizabeth Ensley Deiter to participate in a roundtable discussion on ballot and polling place design. The roundtable will take place in Washington D.C. this Thursday, August 11th from 8 a.m. – 4 a.m. CST.
The U.S. Election Assistance Commission was established by the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA). EAC is an independent, bipartisan commission charged with developing guidance to meet HAVA requirements, adopting voluntary voting system guidelines, and serving as a national clearinghouse of information on election administration.
According to the EAC, the goal of Thursday’s roundtable is to show how implementing best practices in design can give voters confidence that their votes were cast and counted as they intended. Ms. Ensley Deiter is one of seven panelists from around the United States participating in Thursday’s roundtable discussion.
Anyone interested in viewing the event may do so online. For complete details visit the U.S. Election Assistance Commission website at www.eac.gov/.
