Purpose
The Emergency Preparedness and Community Outreach program works to ensure that local public health capacities are in place to address large-scale disease outbreaks, illness, or bioterrorism events in Shawnee County.
Through state and federal grant funding, the Shawnee County Health Agency has enhanced technological capabilities; hired and trained staff, and obtained a variety of equipment and supplies to ensure the health and safety of the community.

- Preparedness and response planning and assessments.
- Communication enhancement between public health, community organizations, and first responders.
- Increased capacity to conduct epidemiological and surveillance activities.
- Educational and training opportunities for first responders and the public.
