What is Teen Group?
Teen Group meets every Monday at noon at the Shawnee County Health Agency Main Clinic, located at 1615 SW 8th Avenue. Teens from ages 14½ through 19 (as well as their partners, friends and/or parents) may attend. No appointment is necessary, services are offered on a walk-in basis. Teen group meets with a Health Education Specialist to discuss these issues:
- Abstinence
- Anatomy (Male and Female)
- Birth Control Methods
- Breast Exams
- Pap Smears
- Pelvic Exams
- STD Information
Female Providers perform female exams which generally include: a breast exam, STD testing, pap smear and a pelvic exam. Birth control methods will be discussed and may be available on site. Please bring:
- Insurance card
- Medical card
- Proof of income
If you need a note for school, you may obtain one at your visit.
Confidentiality: The SCHA CHC Family Planning Team encourages all young people to involve their parents in this important decision. You do not, however, need parental permission to obtain services. Complete confidentiality is provided.
