Special Events

• Outdoor Kids Day on the Trail, Sat, Oct 8, meet at the Shawnee North Community Park Shelter House, 9 p.m. to Noon.  Free event, fun for all the family.
• Art Show - Celebrating Kansas, Sat, Oct 15, Mary Lou's art students present an exhibit and a sale of original paintings. Shawnee North Community Center, 2 – 4 p.m..
• Monster Bash & Trail of Haunts, TH, Oct 27, Face Painting Judging, 6:30 p.m.; Frankenstein Movie, 7 p.m.; Haunted Trail Opens, 8 p.m.; $2 fee will be donated to United Way of Topeka, refreshments will be sold.
• Tails on the Trail, Sat, Nov 5, Shawnee North Community Park, Registration begins at 9 a.m., race begins at 10 a.m.. Proceeds will benefit the Helping Hands Humane Society.
• Holiday Festival of Crafts, F, Nov 18 – 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sat, Nov 19 – 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; three floors of handmade crafts and delicious food by 4-H club.
• Creative Learning Adventures, currently enrolling students for Fall 2011.

Shawnee North Shelter

For shelter reservations call: 785.267.1156.

Our open-sided shelter includes a grill and six picnic tables under the roof. Rest rooms are attached. Its location is perfect for families and friends who also want to use the pool, nature trail, park’s playground, and green space. Ball diamonds, sand volleyball courts, and pool rentals are also available at additional charges.

Shelter rentals are available for time periods of 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.–11 p.m. The Shawnee North Shelter is available for rental April 1 October 31: $75/period

Easter Sunrise Service 6 a.m.–9 a.m.: $75
